My Words

Please Do Keep In Touch

I am bad at keeping in touch, this bad habit has lost me friends because I come off like I don’t care about others. The friends I have now are ones who don’t mind that I go off the grid sometimes (I hope they don’t mind but maybe they do and I just don’t know).

I have always been intrigued by people who constantly check in on others. I must say it feels good when you get a call from a random person you have not spoken to in ages who tells you they are just calling to say hi and find out how you are doing. I want to be that kind of person who not only says silent prayers for people when I think about them but the person who sends random short texts or just a simple hello now and again.  Sometimes those small gesture could be the one thing that brightens up the other person’s day, it could be that short text that would make the next person realize that they mean something to someone.

Yesterday I got another reminder of this when my mum told me a childhood friend committed suicide, little did I know that we have been living about 15 minutes away from each other the whole time and this is very saddening to me. I promise to make an effort to reach out more. I know small gestures go a long way.

  1. I’m like you. I am not one to keep in touch very well. My best friend does, though. She keeps up with everyone and talks to people and is genuinely interested in them. I do that sometimes but, mostly, I’m off the grid. I’m working on it. Excellent post.
